Le Bon Ton

Rules for Brisk Dancing

As previously described, we dedicate our festivities entirely to the "Le Bon Genre" format. Instead of counting steps, we jointly create an atmospheric and lively illusion of the Regency era within the magnificent backdrop of Eichstätt. The Brisk Dancing offers you the perfect space to leave everyday life behind and immerse yourself in the world of Jane Austen with joy and lightness.

The true centerpiece of this experience is the "Bon Ton" – the art of cultivated encounter and elegant movement. In our courses, you will not only learn the historical sequences of steps and dance figures but also naturally internalize the refined posture and social etiquette to which this epoch inspires us. Thus, you will glide into our ball night optimally prepared, relaxed, and full of anticipation.

What to Bring

Please, no street shoes or trainers.
Light dance attire and footwear are required

Regulations & Etiquette

Etiquette on the Dance Floor

  • We most politely request that you maintain attention and listen to the explanations during the dance instructions – even if you should already deem yourself confident in the knowledge of the dance.
  • Please always join the set (longway) at the bottom end and under no circumstances leave it while the dance is in progress.
  • A watchful eye upon the other couples is an excellent means to grasp the flow of the dance and increase one's own certainty within the set.
  • In the spirit of the Bon Ton, we request the ladies to occasionally cede their gentleman to other ladies for a dance. Likewise, the gentlemen may bestow their attention equally upon all ladies of the society.

General House Rules

  • To ensure the special atmosphere remains undisturbed, mobile telephones are to be kept strictly on silent (with the exception of the event management to ensure reachability).
  • Please note that pets are not permitted in the dance hall.

Booking & Organization

  • Ticket sales and the foundation of the ball days: To ensure the execution of the festivities, we politely request your timely booking from the start of advance sales on September 15. Since the Grand Jane Austen Ball forms the center of our days together, the realization of the accompanying courses and divertissements is strictly bound to its occurrence. A prerequisite for this is reaching the minimum number of 50 participants for Jane Austen by February 15, 2027.
  • Accommodation & Concierge Service: Make use of the new exclusive and complimentary concierge service. Most hotel rooms are reserved for us until March 15, 2027!
  • Workshops and individual courses: Please note that specific participant numbers are also required for the individual program items (for example, the Brisk Dancing requires 30 to a maximum of 50 registrations). Should an individual course not reach this number, only that specific program item will be cancelled.
  • Culinary matters and personal expenses: Apart from the refreshment water provided during the dance courses, please note that all other or self-ordered food and drinks (such as during communal refreshment hours) are to be settled directly by each guest.
  • Please note our booking phases: Until the minimum number of participants is secured, we preferentially offer our comprehensive event packages. Once the realization is confirmed, the remaining places will also be available for individual ticket sales.
  • We politely point out that from September 15, the "Brisk Dancing" event is preferentially reserved for our guests with the booked arrangements and will be available as an individual booking subject to availability of free places.
Note on Refunds

Should the minimum number of participants not be reached contrary to expectations, and the event must be cancelled on our part, the fee paid will naturally be refunded to you in full and without any deductions.
